Our Roots
Hi! I’m Lindsay, the owner and artist behind Backwood Design Co.
Since 2017, I’ve been crafting high quality, coastal-inspired artwork, home decor and handmade furniture. From custom live edge tables to custom charcuterie boards and scroll saw wall art, each piece is thoughtfully designed to spark conversation and bring a creative warmth and individuality into your home, cottage, or business.
As a fourth-generation woodworker, I carry on a family tradition—my dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather were passionate hobbyists, and my late mother was a talented artist and painter who was always experimenting and learning new crafts.
In a world of mass-produced items, I believe in creating pieces that not only add warmth and style, but are built to last for generations.
My inspiration comes from the natural beauty around me—from the rocky granite cliffs and cool coastal blues of Georgian Bay, to the beautiful lakes, hardwood forests and vibrant fall colours of Almaguin Highlands. My goal is to bring that same stunning and natural vibe into your space.
